Today the North East is in for further hot weather as the heatwave continues into its second day -  here’s the hour-by-hour rundown.

Yesterday the heatwave brought scorching temperatures for many across the Country, with a high of 29.5c being recorded in Northolt in London.

In the North East, the picture was similar with highs of 24c in Darlington and some more southern places, such as Northallerton, seeing highs of 25c.

We took to Seaton Carew and Redcar Beach to see how people were enjoying the summer sun yesterday.

Today is meant to paint a similar picture as further highs of 24c have been predicted for Darlington and temps as high s 25c for more southern areas such as Northallerton.

  • 7pm – 19c, feels lie 17c
  • 8pm – 17c, feels like 16c
  • 9pm – 17c, feels like 15c
  • 10pm – 16c, feels like 15c
  • 11pm – 15c, feels like 14c

What’s the weather meant to be like tomorrow and the rest of the weekend?

Saturday is meant to also see some bright spells of hay sunshine and be a largely dry day.

However, the odd shower may develop over the Pennines during the afternoon, the Met Office has said.

In general it will feel cooler with temperatures returning to normal.

A maximum temperature of 18c has been predicted for the North East.

Sunday will see mostly variable cloud with some sunny spells, but with a risk of showers at times.
