A Pakistani restaurant has been slapped with a one-star food hygiene rating.

Inspectors from Middlesbrough Council demanded improvements from Annie’s Kitchen on Linthorpe Road after a visit on May 6.

Major improvements are necessary over the management of food safety, which includes making sure that the food sold is safe to eat and that staff are aware of food safety.

Changes are also required regarding the hygienic handling of food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. A spokesperson for Annie’s Kitchen said: “We are improving our business standards and working closely with the local council to improve our standards.”

Inspectors will have made recommendations to the owners about ways they can improve their score. The restaurant will be able to organise a re-inspection once the improvements are made.
