More than 100 insolvency and restructuring experts will be heading to the North East next month when insolvency and restructuring trade body R3 brings its Northern Conference to the region for the first time since before the pandemic.

The event, which is being held at Ramside Hall Hotel near Durham, will see business leaders from right across the north of England debating key issues relating to the UK insolvency framework, their impact on the way insolvency practitioners (IPs) work to save struggling companies and the challenges facing the profession and specific sectors of the business community.

The conference will also see presentations from outside speakers on a range of wider topics, including an update on the UK’s economic outlook from the Bank of England's deputy agent for the North East, Gareth Harrison, and the approach of the Insolvency Service and other Government agencies to the misuse and recovery of Bounceback Loans and other Covid-related financial packages.

The Northern Conference is being hosted by R3 North East chair Chris Ferguson, who said: "We have a thriving North East insolvency and restructuring community which makes a massive contribution to the health of the regional economy, and we are looking forward to bringing so many of the north of England's IPs and restructuring professionals together in Durham."
