FANS have reacted to seeing The Killers in Middlesbrough on Wednesday (June 1) evening – with some branding the band “in a league of their own” and “life affirming”.
The Las Vegas band arrived at Middlesbrough’s The Riverside Stadium greeted by thousands of people that had waited two years to see the show, which had been postponed due to Covid-19 regulations.
Despite the length of wait that many at the gig on Wednesday night had to endure, it seems that everyone came away from the concert full of praise for the rock band – with fans of The Killers taking to social media to show their love for their “icons” and “the best band around”.

Taking to social media following the event, one user praised support band Manic Street Preachers, while giving a shining review of The Killers too, by saying: “I hope I have the eloquence to describe this concert.
“Manics gave a barnstorming set, but the Killers are in a league of their own, guitarists, drummer, backing singers, Brandon Flowers; what a front man.
“It was an awesome performance from possibly the best band around. Fabulous.”
Meanwhile, another said: “The best thing to happen in Boro for so many years. Thank you, The Killers, and The Manics - you saw the best of us.”
Despite delivering a good music set, all the comments on social media were purely focused on music, with one user describing Killers frontman, Brandon Flowers, as “a fine wine” when it comes to the aging process.
The full comment read: “The killers live are amazing, nothing can beat a stadium of British people singing Mr Brightside. Also, Brandon Flowers ages like a fine wine.”
Alongside reaction from after the gig, there was also plenty of excited fans before the concert take place in Middlesbrough, with The Northern Echo catching up with some of them in The Killers fan zone outside The Riverside Stadium.
Everyone that we spoke to had a story to tell, whether it was someone’s first gig or their 19th time seeing The Killers, there was plenty of interesting people milling about.
Matt Hopton, from Ingleby Barwick, came to the gig dressed in a hat from the United States that belonged to his late father, who loved The Killers.
He said: “This is my first time seeing The Killers, but I feel chilled and relaxed - I’ve never had to wait a few years for a gig after it was rescheduled but it’ll be a good night”
Jaennie Jennings and her husband are looking forward to the gig tonight.
The pair have seen the band before in Hull.
She told The Northern Echo before the gig: “It’s nice to see people out and about again after the pandemic - it was cancelled in 2020 and it’s felt like a huge wait. Bring on the music!”
