HAVING formed in 2001, The Killers know their way around a hit tune – and there’s not many of their songs bigger than ‘Mr Brightside’.

After releasing the track in 2003, the song spiked to number ten in the charts, and has been seeing regular popularity since.

On Wednesday (June 1) evening, the Last Vegas band arrived at Middlesbrough’s The Riverside Stadium with an expectation to play a monumental show for people in the North East.

The event had been postponed from 2020, due to Covid-19 regulations and lockdowns, it had been two years in the making – and many fans had built their expectation.

With thousands flocking to the Middlesbrough venue, many had mentioned Mr Brightside before even entering The Riverside Stadium, including where in the setlist The Killers would play it.

There was never any question about whether they’d play it or not, but some thought that they might start with it, while others claimed that it would be nearer the end.

Those people that said it would be later in the show were correct; the American rock band left the iconic tune until the encore.

Having seen the rest of the set go down a treat in Middlesbrough, The Killers launched into Mr Brightside – and the reaction from the crowd was as you’d expect – a mass singalong ensued, and dancing was seen wherever you looked.
