Rock band The Killers will make their way to The Riverside Stadium on Wednesday (June 1) to play for the people of the North East – in what has been two years in the making – having been forced to cancel their previous trip to the region.

The Las Vegas-based band, fronted by Brandon Flowers, were scheduled to play in June 2020 on its Imploding the Mirage tour, but the event was forced to be postponed, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  is on its Imploding the Mirage tour.

Ahead of the performance on Wednesday, there are many questions to answer about food, what people can expect and the building anticipation of the band travelling to Middlesbrough.

However, many might also be thinking about practical issues, such as how to get there and where to park on the evening.

If that’s the case – The Northern Echo are here to help, and have put together a useful guide of how to get to The Riverside Stadium and where to park your car on the evening.

Here are some directions to help get you there:

  • From the North: please use A1, A689, A19, then A66 towards Middlesbrough
  • From the South: please use A19, then A66 towards Middlesbrough
  • From the East: please use A171 or A174, then A66 towards Middlesbrough
  • From the West: please use the A66 towards Middlesbrough

Alongside this, here are the Middlesbrough Town Council car parks that will be operating on the evening of the gig.

Of course, there are private car parks that you can choose, as well as on-street parking too, but here are a few options to start with:

Short stay

  • Amber Street car park: distance from the stadium – 1.2 miles (25 minute walk) – no charges apply after 6pm, or £1.30 per hour any time before.
  • Buxton Street car park: distance from the stadium - 1 mile (20 minute walk) – no charges apply after 6pm, or £1.30 any time before then.
  • Mima car par: distance from the stadium - 0.8 miles (17 minute walk) - no charges apply after 6pm, or £1.30 any time before then.

Long stay

  • Fairbridge street: distance from the stadium – 1.1 miles (22 minute walk) – FREE (parking for disabled badge holders only).
  • Gurney Street: distance from the stadium – 0.7 miles (15 minute walk) - no charges apply after 6pm, or 80p for two hours before then.  
  • Cannon Park Way: distance from the stadium – 1.5 miles (31 minute walk) - no charges apply after 6pm, or 80p for two hours before then.  
  • France Street: distance from the stadium – 0.5 miles (11 minute walk) - no charges apply after 6pm, or £1.30 for 2 hours before.
  • Ferry Road: distance from the stadium – 0.8 miles (15 minute walk) - no charges apply after 6pm, and free for three hours before 6pm.
