PRIME Minister Boris Johnson has been in the North East today (May 27) to encourage a national employment drive to get an extra half a million people into jobs by the end of June.

Visiting DTN Training Academy in Stockton-on-Tees, the Prime Minister joined Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Therese Coffey, and Stockton South MP, Matt Vickers, to discuss the ‘Way to Work’ project.

Mr Johnson toured around the skills centre to meet workers, before he fielded questions about the Sue Gray report, cost of living and levelling up in the North East.

When challenged on the reports of fights, vomiting and drunkenness inside number ten, he responded that those involved are “no longer there” with “significant changes” taking place, while maintaining that he had “limited involvement” in the gatherings.

Meanwhile, the conversation on cost of living was on the agenda, after Rishi Sunak announced a raft of measures to give households across the UK £400, while giving “considerable sums” to disabled people and the most vulnerable in society.
