LOCAL businesses in Northallerton are going all out to celebrate the Queen’s upcoming Platinum Jubilee in truly unforgettable fashion.

A free ‘Right Royal Celebration’ is planned for Sunday, June 5, in the centre of the North Yorkshire town, to celebrate Her Majesty’s record-breaking 70 years on the throne.

Visitors can enjoy children’s entertainment, rides, food and drink, singing, dancing, a classic car display, steam and traction engines and plenty more to mark the occasion.

Graham Bell, manager of Love Northallerton, the town’s Business Improvement District (BID), said: “This isn’t just a first for Northallerton – a Platinum Jubilee is an event which has never before happened in the history of the British Isles, and we fully intend to celebrate this momentous occasion with all the joy and revelry it deserves.

“Northallerton is a fantastic town to live in, work in, or visit, and it’s such a pleasure to offer exciting free events like this for the enjoyment of families throughout our area, bringing even more people into the heart of our town and showcasing our amazing local businesses and independent traders.

“There really is going to be something for everyone – from popular events we’ve held before like the classic car display, to plenty of exciting entertainment for children and families. We greatly look forward to welcoming visitors from near and far for a brilliant, once-in-a-lifetime celebration.”
