A SHOP worker was left shaken after an early morning robbery involving a man with a hammer.

Three male suspects entered Sainsbury's on Bankfields Road, Eston at about 6.13am.

They had their faces covered and one was armed with a hammer, it was reported to police.

Cleveland Police said they threatened a female shop worker, who was left shaken but was physically unharmed.

Two customers were also in the shop at the time.

The suspects are reported to have made off with cash and cigarettes.

Officers are currently on the scene investigating the alleged robbery and the Sainsburys is currently shut.

Detectives are appealing for the public’s help.

Anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV which could help is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number, quoting ref 083079.
