A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after an alleged stabbing at a Newcastle hospital.
William Francis Johnstone, of no fixed abode, has been accused of the attempted murder of an occupational therapist at St Nicholas Hospital in Gosforth.
The 42-year-old appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court this morning (May 12).

The defendant did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody.
The case was committed to Newcastle Crown Court, where a hearing will take place place on Thursday, June 9.
The hospital worker was admitted to hospital but has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
