A MAN from Darlington accused of burglary and theft from a supermarket, appeared in court this week.

Barry Hutchinson entered Farmfoods Limited as a trespasser on April 7 2022, and stole three joints of meat and steak, to the value of £20.

The 53-year-old appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 10.

Hutchinson, of Clifton Road, pleaded guilty.

He had to pay compensation of £20 yesterday (May 10) and will have to undergo treatment for drug dependency.

The defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence.
