A WOMAN is in hospital with serious injuries after falling from a building in Scarborough on the same night another woman died after falling from a fourth-storey ledge.

Police say they were called at 7.50pm last night (Monday, May 9) to reports that a person had fallen from a building on Foreshore Road in Scarborough.

Officers attended the scene along with the ambulance service.

A woman was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries sustained in the fall.

She remains in a stable condition.

Earlier that evening, at around 5.25pm, a woman died after falling from the fourth-storey ledge of a property in Albemarle Crescent in Scarborough.

Police were called to the crescent after a member of the public saw a woman on the ledge.

A short time later, the woman, who was aged in her 40s, fell from the ledge and sadly sustained fatal injuries.

A man has been arrested as part of the investigation and remains in police custody for questioning.
