POLICE have thanked members of the public after a man they wanted to speak to about an assault in Richmond has been identified.

On April 29, North Yorkshire Police issued a still image of a man they wanted to speak to following an assault in Richmond.

The incident happened at Market Place, Richmond at 12.40pm on Wednesday April 13 and involved a man assaulting a woman whilst she was doing a news report.

Officers asked members of the public to get in touch if they recognised the person in the image as it was believed that he could have information that could help the investigation.

The man in the image has now been identified and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Officers have today (May 9) thanked everyone who shared the appeal and also thanked those who called in with information.
