DARLINGTON Jazz Festival returns this weekend with performances taking place in Central Hall (Dolphin Centre) and Number One Bar.

April 30 is International Jazz Day so it’s only fitting that Darlington experiences some live jazz in venues in the town centre.

This Friday, April 29, The Durham Alumni Big Band is set to entertain with the first half of the concert celebrating tunes from the war years with updated arrangements such as A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, Flying Home, A Foggy Day and In the Mood.

The Durham Music Service Big Band will start the evening at 7:15pm. Tickets are £10 and available from the Dolphin Centre or by calling 01325-388406.

Darlington’s Matt Roberts will be playing the music of Miles Davis from noon this Saturday at Number One Bar with support from Calvert & the Old Fools. The event is free but donations are appreciated.

The last Darlington Jazz Festival took place in 2019, due to the pandemic, and this year coincides with Darlington Food & Drink Festival so there will be no lack of things to do in Darlington this weekend.
