A PERSON was taken to hospital after a car rolled over on the A19 this morning (April 25).

The collision involving two vehicles happened at Holystone Way (Holystone Roundabout) North Tyneside, shortly after 11am.

There was major disruption to traffic after one lane was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 11.10am today (Monday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A19 southbound near the Holystone roundabout.

“Thankfully nobody suffered any serious injuries.”

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 11.09am, to reports of a car which had rolled over on the A19 near the Holystone slip road.

"Two paramedic crews were dispatched. We treated one person on scene before discharging them home and a second person was taken to the Northumbria Hospital."

The road was fully reopened a number of hours later, after the damaged vehicles were removed.
