An electric vehicle charging specialist based in County Durham begins a new chapter this week.
European EV charging company Mer acquired Consett-based Elmtronics earlier this year, gaining Elmtronics’ 3,000-strong customer base built up over the last seven years. Moving forward, Elmtronics will be known as Mer, focused on providing an end-to-end EV charging solution to businesses, workplaces and fleets.
Since the acquisition the company has increased its headcount by 20%, with more hiring underway. This positions the company for future growth as the UK increasingly embraces electric vehicles, while also bringing benefits for legacy Elmtronics customers.
The acquisition of Elmtronics brings Mer an established portfolio of commercial customers in the UK including Asda, Fedex, Octopus Energy, BMW and the London Ambulance Service. The integration into Mer also brings significant investment to the former Elmtronics operation, enabling the commercial charge point specialist to scale-up quickly and support more fleets and businesses to switch to EVs.
Dan Martin, one of the founders of Elmtronics, said: “As Mer, we will be offering our business customers more choice, a larger network and improved services. And we will continue to invest to further support commercial businesses looking to establish EV fleets in the UK.”
