IN the past week, a Darlington man and a County Durham woman have been handed fines for dumping rubbish in their area.

Kieron Calvert, of Harris Street in Darlington, dumped the rubbish on land to the rear of Lansdowne Street and Eldon Street on November 11, last year.

The 34-year-old pleaded guilty during a hearing at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 19.

Calvert was fined £400, told to pay costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £40.

Meanwhile, County Durham woman Leanne Middlemas was also fined by the same court for leaving rubbish in her street. 

Middlemas, of Chester-le-Street, was accused of dumping household waste in Tuart Street otherwise than in accordance with conditions contained within a current environmental permit.

The offence happened on June 15, last year.

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge during a hearing at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 19.

Middlemas, of Tuart Street, was fined £180 and told to pay costs of £130 and a victim surcharge of £34.
