A COUNTY Durham woman was fined £220 for dropping a cigarette butt at a bus station.
Penny Ixer, from Stanley, did not attend a hearing at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
She was accused of throwing a cigarette butt on the ground outside Stanley bus station on June 16 last year.
The case was proved in her absence.

Magistrates fined her £220 and imposed costs of £130 and a £34 charge to fund victim services.
Another man also appeared at the court on Tuesday for the same offence.
Martin Smith, from Hetton-le-Hole was fined after throwing a cigarette butt of a service station forecourt.
He pleaded guilty to littering at Cestrian service station, in Ropery Lane, Chester-le-Street on July 6 last year.
Smith, of Deepdale Street, was fined £40 and told to pay costs of £130 and a victim surcharge of £34.
