KNITTING, crochet and other wool-based crafts will take centre stage when a festival returns later this year.

Darlington Wool Festival is taking place in June.

Artists, crafting experts and enthusiasts from across the region will gather at the event hosted by Darlington Borough Council to bring the joys of spinning, felting, knitting, crochet and weaving under one roof.

This year, visitors can look forward to demonstrations from textile specialists, The Weaving Room among others, as well as getting hands on with activities.

Alex Nicholson, the council’s town centre partnership and events manager, said: “Crafting is a fantastic hobby and past time for all ages and wool crafting has seen an enormous uptake over the last few years.

The Northern Echo:

"We have some incredible creators and suppliers on our doorstep as well as across the UK, so we’ve joined forces to bring the event back to the town for a second year.

“There will be lots on offer including tips and advice for beginners, have-a-go sessions to learn and create and lots of great crafting suppliers and exhibitors to inspire you for your next project.”
