DOZENS of people have been paying tribute to a popular Darlington chef following his sudden death.

The Sun Luck Takeaway, in Darlington, announced the death of the popular “Chef Paul” on Tuesday.

Paul Hy ran the takeaway in Dodds Street and was well-known for serving up plates of delicious food for his loyal customers.

Announcing the sad news on social media, his family said: “We know how much you all loved his food very much and that he will be dearly missed.”

Following the announcement, dozens of people have passed on their condolences to his family and have paid tribute to him as a “lovely man”, a “legend” and “one of a kind”.

His funeral is due to take place at Stockton Crematorium on Wednesday, April 20 at 10am.

Customers and well-wishers are welcome to attend.

Anyone who would like to leave a floral tribute is welcome to do so outside the takeaway,  in front of the large window, though they are asked not to block the door.

The takeaway is currently closed.
