OLLY Alexander will be headlining a major North East music festival this summer, organisers have confirmed.

The ‘It’s A Sin’ actor is playing the Rock n Roll Circus in Newcastle alongside huge acts such as Noel Gallagher and The Libertines.

Olly’s band, Years & Years, will be heading to The Town Moor to top the bill on the newly announced date of Sunday June 12.

With three hugely successful albums to date, the singer, actor, and cultural vanguard has earned 5 Brit Award nominations, sold-out numerous global tours, surpassed 5 billion global streams, and played homecoming shows at London’s O2 and Wembley Arena.

Olly has also become a fearless voice on important discussions around mental health, and issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.

Last year he played the leading role as Ritchie Tozer in the critically acclaimed Russell T Davies TV drama.

It’s A Sin has just been nominated for an incredible 11 BAFTAs, including a leading actor nomination for Olly.

The show went on to become one of Channel 4’s biggest shows, breaking viewing on demand records and winning the Best New Drama prize at the National Television Awards as well as bringing the fight against HIV/AIDs back into the public conversation like never before.

As a result, this led to a spectacular show-stopping performance of Pet Shop Boys' classic It’s A Sin with Elton John at the BRIT Awards 2021 with the single released to benefit the Elton John Aids Foundation.

Years & Years third album, Night Call, reached number one on the UK Album Chart in January with latest single, Sweet Talker, becoming Olly’s tenth UK Top 40 single.
