AN 18-year-old girl has died following a collision involving a car and a tractor and trailer.

The crash happened in the Bedale area of North Yorkshire on Friday just after 3.30pm.

A grey Fiat 500 car was travelling on the A6055 at Little Holtby, near the entrance to Holtby Hall, when it was in collision with a green tractor and trailer. 

The 18-year-old driver of the Fiat died at the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Her family are receiving support from the police while the investigation continues.

"We are not able to release her name at this time, and we ask that her family’s privacy is respected."

The driver of the tractor was left "badly shaken" by the crash, police said.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and information following the collision, which happened at about 3.36pm. 

The Fiat 500 was heading south at the time of the collision, while the tractor was travelling north.

The major collision team was on the road until late last night as it examined the scene and vehicles.

The road reopened at about 11.30pm. 


The team is appealing for witnesses to the collision and motorists with dash-cams who were in the area at the time, to come forward as soon as possible.

They also want to hear from people with any other information that could assist the investigation as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
