NEWCASTLE United FC has unveiled its new club store in the North East today (April 1) – building on its presence in the region and bringing fans of the Premier League club nearer to the action.

Opening to shoppers at Metrocentre Gateshead, the shop will be run by premium sportswear brand, Castore, which sees the company open the doors to its second NUFC store in its portfolio.

Located in the upper Red Mall opposite Flannels, the 2,500 sq ft store will bring a new level of performance and quality to the sportswear market, according to Castore, as well as offering Metrocentre customers and NUFC fans the chance to shop its extensive range of technical and multi-functional sports clothing.

After becoming Newcastle’s technical partner last summer, Castore’s newest shop adds to the St. James' Park retail outlet and online store, as well as its own Castore store in Newcastle city centre.

Founded in 2015 by brothers Tom and Phil Beahon, Castore was created to bring a new level of performance to sportswear.

The siblings’ vision is to build Castore into a brand that is focused on premium sportswear and respected across the globe for its innovation and performance within the market.

Speaking about today’s opening, co-founder of Castore, Tom Beahon, said: “After months of hard work, we are pleased to be able to open our doors today at Metrocentre Gateshead.

“The centre felt like the obvious next step for us as a brand after settling into our new Stadium Store at St James’ Park, as another way for us to reach the dedicated and engaged NUFC fans as well as sportswear enthusiasts in the North East.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Metrocentre family and can’t wait to welcome customers through our doors.”

After launching its partnership with Rangers FC in 2020, Castore’s portfolio has grown significantly, with the addition of Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, McLaren Formula 1, and England Cricket.

Castore is also partnered with several top-tier athletes, including Grand Slam tennis champion, Andy Murray, England Rugby Union captain, Owen Farrell, England cricketer, Jos Buttler, and multiple gold medal-winning Olympic swimmer and world record holder, Adam Peaty.

In addition to the new NUFC store in the region, Castore has 13 stores throughout the UK, with plans to open a further 15 sites in 2022.
