POLICE have confirmed a man who was the subject of a missing from home appeal earlier today has been found.

Concern grew amid the continued absence of William Lee, who had last been seen at his home in Penshaw, near Sunderland, at about 9.30am on Saturday.

But, in a short statement, issued at 12.30pm today, Northumbria Police said: “Good news! The 75-year-old man missing from Sunderland has been found safe and well.”

The force thanked everyone who shared the original appeal.
