He was given a community order with rehabilitation activity requirements but was back before the courts this week after failing to attend appointments.

Magistrates sitting at Newton Aycliffe on Thursday (March 24) heard Haswell failed to attend an arranged programme appointment on January 17 this year and did not provide an acceptable explanation for this absence.

Last month, February 21, he missed a rehabilitation activity requirement without providing an acceptable reason.

Haswell admitted breaching the order.

Magistrates revoked the original community order and re-sentenced him to 12-weeks in prison, suspended for 18-months.

They said this was due to his 'wilful and persistent' failure to comply with the requirements of a community order.

Haswell, of Hawthorn, Easington, must also comply with the requirements of a new supervision period of 18-months by participating in a Building Better Relationships course.
