Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Emily Cox as its new Group Ambassador for the North of England where she will lead on supporting social and economic prosperity.

As the northern ambassador, Emily will work alongside a team of experts from across the bank to drive the Group’s purpose of ‘helping Britain prosper’ at a regional level to support the businesses and communities they serve, identifying opportunities and delivering initiatives that will address the challenges facing the North to drive socio-economic growth.

Emily said: “Although we’re starting to find our feet through recovery, businesses and communities are now having to navigate the cost-of-living crisis. While the region has its challenges, I’m excited to use this role to champion the opportunities available as we aim for a more positive year."

 

THE continued growth of a North East PLC has led to the expansion of its in-house legal team.

Malhotra Group PLC, which has care and leisure divisions along with a large property portfolio, has taken on two new para legals, to help deal with its ever-increasing workload.

And the new part time appointments are giving a real opportunity to two law students at Northumbria University, who will be working for the company while continuing their studies.

Mary Watts, originally from York and Zoe Limon, originally from Saltburn-by-the-Sea are now working from the company’s base at Malhotra House, Grey Street, Newcastle.

Their appointment sees them now part of a five strong team, looking after all the various aspects of the Malhotra Group PLC’s legal requirements.

 

TMD Friction has announced the appointment of two senior managers, boosting its leadership team as it continues to implement ambitious plans for growth.

The Hartlepool-based global automotive manufacturer has appointed Sam Kirtley into the role of UK Finance Director, joining the business having previously worked for Gestamp in Newton Aycliffe.

Joining her is Helen Robinson, who is the company’s new HR Manager for the UK, replacing Jenny Wright who has been promoted into a global position.

Sam said: “Investment in the finance team within TMD Friction UK comes at such an exciting time for the business, as further investment is committed by the group to support the ongoing expansion of the Hartlepool plant.”

Helen, who lives in Northumberland, started with TMD Friction in January and is leading on the recruitment of a number of office, production and engineering appointments to ensure the company has the right people in place to support growth plans for the months ahead.”

 

EY has appointed an Associate Partner from within the firm, with Stephanie Beaumont joining the Newcastle Leadership team on 1 February 2022.

Stephanie joined EY in 2007 as an experienced hire, based in the Newcastle Assurance practice, having trained with a mid-tier firm. She has over 18 years’ experience across accountancy and professional services, as well as expertise in international accounting and auditing standards. In addition to her promotion, Stephanie has also just celebrated the milestone of reaching 15 years with EY.

She said: “Progressing to Associate Partner is a proud moment in my career and I have received incredible support from EY throughout my journey.”

A Teesside water firm has appointed a dedicated growth officer to support its expansion into other utilities.

Everflow Water, which is based in Stockton, has appointed Craig Dallison to the role of chief growth officer.

Craig comes from a varied background in large multinationals and in the energy broker market where he held senior marketing and IT roles.

At Everflow, he will be responsible for driving the company’s ambitious growth plans and leading the sales, marketing and commercial functions.

Craig said: “My remit is as simple as it sounds, to grow the business. On a day-to-day basis, I will work alongside the sales, marketing and commercial teams to simplify things for our customers and bring our own switching software Eclipse to a wider audience.

“Alongside this I will spearhead our growth into other utilities markets and territories, to ensure that we remain one of the fastest-growing companies in Europe.”

 

One of the UK’s leading snack food and ready meal manufacturers has appointed a new Managing Director.

Alan Thorpe has taken on the role at North East-based SK Chilled Foods.

The company creates a range of foods and meal accompaniments for the UK’s best-known supermarkets specialising in a range of cuisines including Indian, Asian, Mediterranean, American and Tex-Mex.

Alan, 52, joined SK on 7th March from Marmum Dairy in the United Arab Emirates where he spent the last two and a half years working as Sales Director.

Reporting to Group Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Faulkner, Alan will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of SK Chilled Foods, which recently celebrated the most successful Christmas period in its history, generating sales of £17.7 million.

He will be based in the company’s head office in Wynyard. SK also has two manufacturing sites in Middlesbrough.
