A COUNTY Durham care home is gearing up to organise a special bake sale to raise money to support Comic Relief tomorrow (March 18).
Staff and residents from The Manor House, Barnard Castle, will be baking some delicious treats in aid of Comic Relief, which will support the charity’s mission to help people live free from poverty, violence, and discrimination.
The bake sale will be put on inside the home, located on John Street, for visitors, residents, and colleagues.

Alongside the fundraising, the team and residents at the home will also be wearing the classic Comic Relief red noses during the day to spread awareness around the charity and its aims.
Gill Storey, 82, who has lived at the Barnard Castle care home for seven years, has expressed her excitement towards the bake sale.
She said: “The day will be a lot of fun all in aid of a really important cause. There’s always a lot of great events here. I’ve always liked to raise money for Comic Relief and other charities and I’m glad I can keep doing so while living at Anchor’s The Manor House Barnard Castle care home.”
Sharon Harrison, manager at The Manor House, added: “We’re really excited to be raising money for Comic Relief. Not only are these events raising money for a good cause, they’re also a lot of fun for our residents to take part in and us to organise.
“We’re proud to do our part for Comic Relief. Our residents at Anchor’s The Manor House Barnard Castle care home are always keen to help good causes. Meaningful activities such as these also help with our residents’ physical and mental wellbeing.”
