TWO officials leading the relocation of hundreds of Government jobs to Darlington will be keynote speakers at an online business event.

Beth Russell, Director General leading the Treasury Economic Campus in the town, and Joanna Crellin, the first Director General from the Department of International Trade to be based in the area, will speak at the free online event on Wednesday March 30.

It is the third ‘Darlington On The Rise Event’ to be organised by local commercial law firm, The Endeavour Partnership, to help promote the chosen charities of the Mayor of Darlington.

Beth will be providing an overview of the progress being made on the campus, followed by Joanna revealing the next steps for the site and how departments plan to collaborate to improve future policy decision making.

This year’s Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Cyndi Hughes, who will also speak at the event, said: “The aim is to give local businesspeople the chance to have a conversation directly with those at the heart of the Treasury campus development.

“This event is for anyone who wants to know more about the Treasury’s plans and how Darlington’s businesses and local people stand to benefit.”

Nigel Williams, Corporate Partner at The Endeavour Partnership, added: “There is so much to be excited about in terms of what’s happening in the Tees Valley area at the moment, and Darlington has had some major good news stories to celebrate.

“The optimism and positivity this has created in the business community is tangible. We are proud to be involved with this event and I am looking forward to hearing from Beth and Joanna about the plans for the Darlington Economic Campus, as well as from the Mayor who has had a fantastic year in office.”

Previous speakers in the Darlington On The Rise events have been Darlington-born Nigel Wilson, Group Chief Executive of Legal and General, and Mark Robinson, chair of the Government-led High Street Task Force.

The event will be hosted by journalist and broadcaster Peter Barron. To register CLICK HERE
