A NEWTON Aycliffe teenager who constantly breached his Criminal Behaviour Order and targeted members of the town community has been jailed for four months.

The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to breaching the order three times as well as the attempted theft of a motor vehicle and public order offences.

He pleaded not guilty to attempted burglary and a trial date has been set for July 13.

Another teenage boy, 14, is due to go on trial for attempted burglary and breaching his CBO on July 15 and was today (March 11) made subject to a curfew between 7pm and 7am monitored by an electronic tag.

The two boys, along with another teenage offender, have also been banned from contacting each other.

Neighbourhood Inspector, Sarah Honeyman, has highlighted the work that local policing units have been doing to get convictions for the teenagers involved.

She said: “The whole team have, and continue to, relentlessly pursue those few individuals who act in an anti-social manner and commit crime in our communities.

“The result from court today will significantly reduce offending in our town and we are pleased the magistrates have recognised the impact these three boys have had.

“We hope these measures will disrupt the offending and as they are dealt with, we can find long-term solutions.

“I would like to say thank you to residents who have continued to work with us to tackle this issue and urge anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour or criminal offences to report it to the neighbourhood team.”
