Appearing at a plea hearing at Durham Crown Court, the 22-year-old defendant, of Lambton Gardens, Burnopfield, denied dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

The court was told the driving while disqualified offence is not likely to be pursued as the charge was “laid” out of time, but a trial will take place for the dangerous driving allegation.

A trial date, starting on Monday July 4, was agreed and Recorder Simon Goldberg bailed the defendant in the meantime.
