A MAN has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds after admitting a string of offences in Darlington town centre.

Anthony Winward, of Spindleberry Way, Newton Aycliffe, was fined £400 after attempted criminal damage at a Darlington nightclub alongside further charges of assaulting a woman, using threatening behaviour, and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court heard Winward was on a night out in Darlington town centre on August 16 last year when the offences took place.

The 29-year-old attempted to damage the windows of The Gate nightclub on Blackwellgate, the court heard.

He pleaded guilty to the four charges at court on Monday.

Winward was ordered to pay £400 compensation and was handed a community order.
