THE Met Office have updated their warnings as storms Dudley and Eunice are set to batter the North East tomorrow bringing severe weather.

Three weather warnings are currently in place across the North East and North Yorkshire, one of those being amber, warning of "severe" winds and "danger to life" 

However, looking later into the week after the storms, the weather forecaster has predicted some snow may fall.

Wintery showers on Thursday will reportedly ease and Friday will bring with it further rain and snow being “likely.”

The full forecast between Thursday and Friday reads: “Often very windy with widespread gales, severe gales at times.

“Wintry showers early Thursday, these easing. Then further rain Friday with some snow likely. Winds easing Saturday, with wintry showers.

The news comes after the Met Office have updated their amber and yellow warnings for wind across the North East and North Yorkshire.

When are the weather warnings in place now they have been updated?

The amber warning for wind is currently in place from 4pm on Wednesday until midnight on Wednesday night affecting much of the North East.

The yellow warning for wind is also in place between 3pm tomorrow until 6am on Thursday morning, affecting much of the UK.

Another yellow warning is in place from Friday morning at midnight until 9pm on Friday night.

What can I expect from the storm?

According to the weather forecaster, road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected and some roads and bridges are likely to close.

The Met Office have also warned of injuries and danger to life from both storms is likely from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties.

Falling trees and damage to buildings is also one to look out for, such as tiles being blown from roof tops and flying debris.

Power cuts are also likely, just as many have recovered, and are still recovering, from Storm Arwen last year and phone coverage could also be affected.

What is the weather like today and tonight?

The weather forecaster has predicted wet and windy weather initially with some brief hill snow, which will quickly clear east by mid-morning.

Sunny spells with scattered blustery showers will be left afterwards with wintery showers over high ground.

The Northern Echo:

A maximum temperature of 7c has been predicted for today.

Looking ahead into tonight, the Met Office have predicted clear spells with lingering showers which will soon cloud over with rain moving east.

This will clear in the night and winds will begin increasing towards dawn, a minimum temperature of 2c has been predicted tonight.
