POLICE are appealing for information after an assault in a Bishop Auckland pub at the end of last year that left the victim in hospital with facial injuries.

The incident occurred at The Tap and Tun, Newgate Street on Saturday, December 11 at around 11.30pm.

It is believed the suspect threw a drink at the victim before hitting him in the head with the glass multiple times, according to officers from Durham Constabulary that are investigating the incident.

The victim was taken to hospital and has been left with facial injuries.

Anyone who was in the pub at the time or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact DC Steven Gill from Bishop Auckland CID on 101 and dial extension 742111.
