A SECOND new store will open its doors in Newton Aycliffe later this month after a food giant announced that it would be taking over an existing corner shop in the town.

On Friday, February 18, Morrisons Daily will welcome customers to its new Neville Parade facility after signs started popping up on the frontage of the McColl’s corner shop to inform local people of the switch.

McColl’s, who own Morrisons Daily, have said that the small alteration won’t impact customers, but that members of the public will see minor changes made to the products that will be available, as well as the setup of the shop.

The announcement about Morrisons Daily comes after the company revealed that it would be continuing with a ‘mass rollout’ of new stores after converting hundreds of McColl’s stores last year to the new branding.

Chief executive of Morrisons Daily, Jonathan Miller, has highlighted that bringing a ‘well known’ name to the town is a “no brainer” and has set out what people in Newton Aycliffe can expect.

He said: “We have continued to play an important role serving local neighbourhoods through the challenges of COVID-19.
