POLICE officers have launched an investigation after a schoolgirl was bitten by a dog outside a supermarket in Newcastle - which saw the owner of the pet leave the scene without exchanging any details.

Northumbria Police announced today (January 22) that they are looking into the alleged dangerous dog incident, and have released the image of an individual who they would like to trace.

The incident happened between 8pm and 8.10pm on December 12 last year, which saw a 12-year-old girl and her mum attend Sainsbury’s on Chillingham Road, Newcastle.

It is reported that the dog owner then left the scene without exchanging any details.

An investigation is ongoing into the incident, and police have now identified an individual who they would like to speak to in connection with their enquiries.
