A NETWORK dedicated to promoting the benefits of apprenticeships has welcomed a new Chair to spearhead the organisation’s “young team”.

Natasha Scorer, 24, has been appointed Chair of the North East Young Apprenticeships Ambassador Network (YAAN) – a group of current and former apprentices who act as vocal advocates for apprenticeships and help shape regional and national policy.

A member of YAAN since 2018, Natasha has fulfilled the role of Co-Vice Chair for the past two years, supporting outgoing Chair Emma Beauchamp, who was last month named Co-Vice Chair of the National Apprenticeship Ambassador Network.

“It is a rare occurrence for me, but I was totally speechless when offered the position,” she said.

“I feel truly honoured to be given the opportunity to lead such an important and vital organisation, and work alongside some of the most talented, motivated young people in the North East.

“I’d like to wish Emma the best of luck in her new role, she leaves big shoes to fill, but I am excited for the challenge ahead and very much look forward to working with some amazing people on some amazing projects.”

Natasha, from Cramlington, Northumberland, works as an assessor and facilitator at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, having started there six years ago as a Level 2 Apprentice in Healthcare. She now helps guide the careers of new apprentices at the Trust, arranging training and development programmes to help them progress.

She said: “I really value the North East Apprenticeships Ambassador Network. Slowly but surely, it is breaking down the negative stigmas and misconceptions surrounding apprenticeships and building a brighter future for our society.”

NEAAN was created to serve the North East, promoting, championing and creating apprenticeship opportunities. It works with companies and organisations to raise the profile of apprenticeships and encourage firms to take them on.
