A MAN has been jailed for three months after stealing numerous packs of chocolate worth £80.

Simon Robinson, of Commercial Street, Darlington, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court.

The court heard he entered an Iceland store in the town on December 15 2021 and stole numerous packs of chocolate, to the value of £44.

The next day he again stole numerous packets of chocolate, to the value of £36. He was also found to have cannabis on his possession.

The 38-year-old was sentenced to three months in prison and was ordered to repay the costs of the stolen items. In court, Robinson was branded as having a "flagrant disregard for people and their property".

Robinson reappeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, January 12, where he was ordered to pay £2.50 compensation after damaging a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale in a Co-op store in Darlington on Christmas Eve.
