AN address in Bishop Auckland uncovered a “number of” cannabis plants and equipment in a search this morning police have said.

Officers and a Neighbourhood Team executed a Magistrates search warrant at the address in Leeholme this mornings.

Police say “a number of cannabis” plants along with growing equipment have been located as Northern Powergrid attended to ensure the premises was safe.

Inspector Peter Lonsdale of Bishop Auckland Neighbourhood Police Team said: “This was an excellent piece of work developed by the local PCSOs for the area; PCSO Wadge and PCSO Smith which led to us obtaining and executing a magistrates search warrant and seizing a number of cannabis plants and equipment.”

The police say they would encourage anyone who has information in relation to this or other criminal activity to report it.
