FOUR men have been arrested after a stolen car crashed into a tree in a County Durham village this afternoon.

Durham Roads Policing Unit attended the scene in Tudhoe Village just before midday.

Remarkably nobody was seriously injured despite the Audi having ploughed head-on into the tree, causing extensive damage to the vehicle's front end and splitting the tree.

Officers said four men were arrested within minutes of the crash and remain in custody at this time, having been assessed at hospital.

The police wished to thank the local community and witnesses for assisting them.
