A NORTH East MP is showcasing the role of apprentices and highlighting positions available at an event next month.

Richard Holden, the member for North West Durham, is hosting an Apprenticeships Fair, at Derwentside College, Consett, on Friday February 11, from 11am to 4pm.

The fair will see apprenticeships on offer in a range of roles, including accounting, administration, bus driving, care, catering, civil engineering, construction, design, estimating, factory operations, finance, fire and rescue, groundwork, hair and beauty, health and safety, highways maintenance, hotels, the NHS, plus quantity surveying and more.

Free parking is available on site along with hot food available.

A Government Minister will also be attending the event.

It follows Mr Holden’s ‘Jobs, Jobs, Jobs’ Fair, in September, which attracted more than 400 people, with dozens of companies recruiting and scores of people getting jobs in the weeks that followed.

Mr Holden said: “With our economy having re-bounded from the pandemic, lots of my constituents will be seeking to grab hold of new opportunities as businesses continue to build back better.

“The fair will showcase the huge range of apprenticeships on offer.

“Apprenticeships allow people to earn while they learn and gain great qualifications, including up to degree level.”

The fair is free for both organisations and attendees and Mr Holden urged young job seekers to attend the college to take their careers, “to the next level.”
