A CYCLIST was taken to hospital with a number of leg fractures following a serious collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the crash, which happened in Washington on December 2.

It was reported that a car had been travelling on Station Road and on to the Brady Square/A195 roundabout at about 6.50am, where the driver collided with a cyclist travelling southbound.

Paramedics attended the scene and the driver of the car stayed with the cyclist before the 50-year-old rider was taken to hospital with a number of fractures to his lower leg.

Northumbria Police is  appealing for any witnesses to the collision, especially anyone who might have dashcam footage, to come forward.
