A MAN has been arrested after hundreds of cannabis plants were found at a property.

Officers from Hartlepool neighbourhood police team carried out two simultaneous drug warrants at neighbouring properties in the town on Thursday.

At one of the properties in Dent Street, 280 plants were discovered in four separate rooms.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis.

He remained in police custody yesterday.

Enquiries are ongoing.

The operation was supported by specialist entry teams from Cleveland Police, as well as officers from the National Crime Agency and North East Regional Special Operations Unit (NERSOU).

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "We would appeal for anyone with information on drug dealing or activity in their area to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number.
