A DARLINGTON man was left with a court bill of more than £200 after failing to pay a £15 rail fare.
Jack Powell, 28, of Outram Street, Darlington had failed to buy a ticket for his journey from Huddersfield to Manchester Victoria on August 17 last year.

The fare for the Northern Trains journey would have been £15.30.
He pleaded guilty and Greater Manchester Magistrates’ Court fined him £40, told him to pay compensation of £15.30, a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £150.
The hearing took place on Friday, January 7.
