A MOTORIST had to be cut from their car in a serious three-car collision on the A67 between Barnard Castle and Winston yesterday (January 11) – that saw two other drivers injured.

The major A-route, which connects Barnard Castle to Darlington, was closed for over four hours in both directions after Durham Constabulary confirmed that a serious crash had taken place just before 3pm.

Several emergency vehicles attended the scene, including one ambulance, numerous police cars, two fire units and three crews from the Hazardous Area Response Team, who all kept the road closed so they could attend to people’s injuries and investigate the factors surrounding the collision.
