The BMI Woodlands hospital in Darlington has taken charge of its own CT scanner.

The GE revolution EVO scanner performs advanced and accurate CT examinations and works with low level lighting and ceiling mounted landscapes to help promote an atmosphere of calm for clients.

The scanner acquires images quickly and quietly, meaning most examinations can be performed within ten minutes with minimal discomfort.

"We understand people may become anxious when entering a CT department as it may be a new experience for many, however we will answer any questions or queries you may have and go through exactly what the whole experience entails," said a hospital spokesperson.

"If you suffer from claustrophobia you can even come to us before your appointment time to have a look around and alleviate any concerns."

The hospital performs a whole range of CT examinations, including oncology follow up scans, post-operative scans; urgent investigational scans; routine non-urgent scans; orthopaedic examinations for joint pain and joint replacements; hips, knees, ankles, shoulders and wrists .

It can accommodate CT scans that are needed within a short time-frame, like urgent two week wait referrals.

"Our team are extremely flexible and can tailor your CT appointment around you and your working/family life as we provide an extended day coverage for CT," said the spokesperson.
