LESLEY Moody, who has been President of the North East England Chamber of Commerce since May 2019, has been awarded an OBE, less than seven years after receiving her MBE.

Lesley, who is the managing director of Teesside-based AES Digital Solutions, said: “It is a privilege to receive an honour and to be awarded one for a second time by Her Majesty has completely bowled me over.

“I received my MBE almost seven years ago and have said many times that I was humbled and honoured to receive such an award.

“Now on receiving an OBE in this year’s New Year’s Honours I feel that same sentiment only tenfold… it was so unexpected and words cannot truly describe what it means to me.

“I live in Morpeth and was born, bought up and educated in the North East. This background and being the longest serving North East England Chamber of Commerce President in over 200 years, has given me the opportunity to work with the chamber’s team and support some amazing businesses and organisations around our region.

“The businesses and people of our region are resilient, strong and most of all the warmest you’ll find anywhere.

"Through my role as President I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to give something back to our region, its businesses and the wider community.”
