DARLINGTON Football Club have paid tribute to a former Darlington FC player who died yesterday.

Police in Bermuda confirmed that Osagi Bascome was stabbed yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference police confirmed they have launched a murder investigation and have appealed for information.

A spokesperson for Darlington Football Club said: "The club is devastated to learn of the passing of former player Osagi Bascome. Osagi joined the club in 2019 playing a memorable role in our FA Cup tie at Walsall. Everyone from the club’s thoughts are with Osagi’s family and friends.”

Yesterday Police in Bermuda confirmed a 23-year-old man had died after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

Mr Bascome left Darlington in February last year.

During the press conference police in Bermuda said: "At 3.47am this morning police received a 911 call from the hospital about a 23-year-old male, brought in by persons unknown with serious stab wounds, a few minutes later he was pronounced dead by the emergency doctor.

"I confirm the identity of the male as Osagi Bascome from St Davids. It was later established that an incident took place here, outside of Fun Zone [recreation centre] in St Davids, where a party was being held and we believe an altercation occurred that led to Osagi's death."
