A NEW video focussing on Richmond’s independent businesses and attractions has been launched by the town council.

It is just one of the council’s initiatives to promote Richmond to local people and visitors.

The video was produced by local company, Trimble Productions and showcases a broad representation of independent retailers, manufacturers, cafes, attractions and restaurants.

Managing director of Trimble Productions, Tony Trimble said: "As a company that is based in Richmond, it's important to us to support the local community as much as possible.

"We enjoyed developing the concept for the video and making the video in collaboration with the town council and the Business and Tourism Association to increase awareness and footfall for the businesses in Richmond".

The video was funded by a £10,000 grant from the Government’s Welcome Back Fund, supported by the European Regional Development Fund and the district council.

Councillor Philip Wicks, who led the initiative, said: “Richmond Town Council supported the use of the Welcome Back Fund to create a promotional video of Richmond that encourages people back into the town to support our many local, independent businesses.”

He added: “It makes me smile every time I watch it.”

The idea for the video was originally discussed at a meeting of the Original Richmond and Business Tourism Association (ORBTA).

Chair, Marcia McLuckie expressed enthusiasm for the project, saying: “I am extremely pleased that Richmond Town Council has produced this video.

"It highlights the interest and personal service Richmond has to offer. Toby and his team at Trimble Productions have really captured the flavour of our local independents”.

Local businesses are being invited to add a link to their websites to promote the video, which may be viewed now on YouTube at https://youtu.be/nSdZPWAuojU
