A COUNTY Durham film maker is celebrating an award win.

Lifestyle magazine Darkus awarded Dean Maynard The North East Creative award for 2021 as a result of his success with his Rag Dolly and Eve Valentine short-film franchise.

Mr Maynard, from Willington, released Dolly v Eve: Homecoming at Halloween and it premiered at the Durham Odeon Luxe.

The franchise films have been viewed around the world, picked up a number awards along the way and even have merchandise.

Darkus Magazine said: "It has been brilliant to see how both his characters Rag Dolly and Eve Valentine as well as Dean himself have evolved over this past year.

"He is a real encouragement to show others that through hard work and a positive attitude, dreams can be achieved.

"We look forward to seeing where Dean's creative endeavours take him to next."

Mr Maynard said: "This award isn't just for me. This is for my whole team and every venue and media outlet who has helped us."
