A CRAFTY band of women have brightened up their village by producing a ‘12 Days of Christmas’ display in secret.
The nine women have been working behind the scenes through October and November to create the delightful exhibition outside The Village Hall, in Hurworth, near Darlington.
As well as knitting and crocheting, “The Secret Crafty Group”, has also used paintings, felting, hand-stitching and pom poms to complete the 12 festive scenes.
It follows a successful yarn bombing display, which tied in with a village treasure hunt for children at Easter.
Organiser Tracie Jacobs said: “We’ve been having a crafty gathering twice a month and we wanted to follow up what happened at Easter by showing a wider range of crafts.
“We’ve got some amazingly talented people in the village – as well as a couple of ladies who come from Darlington – and it’s as much about a social get-together as anything else.
“It keeps us focused and busy and, hopefully, the villagers enjoy what we do. We’re already starting to think about what comes next but it will remain top secret.”
